Giveaway: Zero Water : Measure and Taste the Difference

Now you can get the taste and quality of purified bottled water right out of a pitcher – Zero Water is the only filtered water that meets the FDA definition for purified bottled water. And you can test it yourself too with a handy Z-Tester Electronic Water Duality Tester, or a TDS (total dissolved solids) meter, that lets you see just how clean your water really is. You’ll find that on a range of 0-9990 that tap water typically reads between 75 and 300, conventional filtered water ranges between 030 and 500, bottled water ranges from 000-350. Zero Water should read as close to 000 as possible. In fact, they say that if you get a read out of 006 or higher in your Zero Water pitcher, it’s time to change the filter.

We tested all the water in our house and found that the tap water and our Brita filter had very close readouts (340 for tap and 290 for the Brita water). And of course our Zero Water measured 000. Now what exactly is in the Brita and tap water I couldn’t tell you. What I can tell you is that the only thing in our Zero Water, according to this tester, is water.

So how does it taste? I’m going to be honest with you – I don’t love it – it’s so pure, that for me, it was almost unsettling – but my son requests it over our other water and my husband is joining his side, too. Initially he also preferred the Brita, but after drinking a couple of glasses of Zero Water, he found he could drink either without complaint. I’d compare it to training yourself to eat healthier – it doesn’t always taste better initially to go from say white bread to wheat, but when the evidence is there that it’s better for you, sometimes you try – and usually you find yourself accustomed to the taste after awhile. I know I’ll be the last one to be won over, because I just barely like water at all – whereas my husband and son both love it – so it’s just not as far of a leap for them. And in the meantime, I know I’m giving them the purest quality water I can.

One thing I love about the Zero Water pitcher is the pitcher itself. First off, it’s incredibly cool looking. It’s also much narrower than our standard Brita pitcher, despite holding equal amounts of water – this means it would fit more comfortably into your refrigerator or take up less counter space, depending on where you keep it. It also has a bush button dispenser on the bottom of the pitcher so you can dispense the water from the pitcher while it’s standing – so handy! At $29.99 for a two pack, the cost of replacement filters for the Zero Water is almost double the cost of a Brita filter (which retail for $7.99 each), but for those who consider this 000 water an importance, it’s still not astronomically expensive. The pitcher itself is $39.99 as compared to $20.99 for the standard Brita pitcher. You can buy Zero Water products at Target, Walmart, Walgreens and Home Depot or buy directly from their website.

V-Motion Review and Giveaway

VTech makes educational learning products for children that allow them to interact, have fun, and learn all at the same time. Recently we received the V-Motion electronic gaming system and my children begged me the moment they saw the box to try this out. As soon as it was set up my seven year old jumped in to play. She chose the motion play that allows her to use her movements to move the on-screen player.

Clickfree Backup System

Both moms and tech geeks are sure to love this product line. MMM – Audiovox Homebase Giveaway

Readers that are huge fans of the clutterless fridge will be excited to hear about this amazing product. Audiovox Homebase is a digital message board that includes a 7-inch digital picture frame and a built-in camera that family members can use to record messages for each other and set them to be played back at a specific date. There’s also space on the homebase for family members to write on its dry-erase board and post coupons with the included magnets.

Toted to eliminate all pictures and notes from under magnets, this system seems to be the ultimate clutter reducer. It holds about 100 digital pictures and plays them in slide show mode which removes the pile of pictures taking up valuable fridge real estate.

The video recording option features an indicator light that denotes a message is waiting to be watched. Kids will get a kick out of leaving messages to mommy telling her how much they appreciate her super organizing skills. The perfect use for this feature is setting playback for birthdays and anniversaries so a personalized message can be left ahead of time from out of town guests.

The homebase also works as a dry-erase board for quick notes that you don’t want to record. There’s a slot to hold the dry-erase marker, which makes this much superior to any other dry-erase board. There’s also a slot to hold post-it notes.

A suggestion on the packaging is to post coupons with the included magnets, but the magnetic strips around the edges just aren’t powerful enough to hold magnets. Fortunately, refrigerators are magnetic, and that’s the most useful place for a piece of equipment such as this – a high traffic location.

A big downer with this item is installing it. The most useful location is mounted on your fridge but it can only be powered by an electrical cord. Audiovox supplies a wire management system in clear, white, and black to make the cord blend in with your fridge, but what a pain in the butt.

The calendar function is sub-par, not letting a user add notes to a specific date without recording. Adding text into the calendar would make this insanely more useful. Syncing with Google Calendar (or even being able to upload an ical formated file) would make every geek’s heart sing.

Priced around the same as a digital picture frame, this item will potentially be on fridges across America – or built into your fridge like many companies already have done.

Purex Natural Elements – Review and Giveaway

When I do laundry I try to use specific brands due to my husbands allergy to certain ingredients in laundry detergent products. My favorite brand to use is Purex. He has never had an allergic reaction to this brand. Well, Purex has gotten better and “greener”! They recently released their new Natural Elements line.

The Natural Elements line from Purex comes in either Laundry Detergent or Fabric Softener. They come in a variety of fragrances. The laundry detergent comes in: Linen & Lilies^™, Cherry Blossoms & Vanilla, Apple & Melon and Lilac & White Lavender HE. The fabric softener comes in: Linen & Lilies and Apple and Melon.   The fragrance I tried was the Linen and Lilies, it was clean smelling and not overpowering.

The plant-based surfactants are sourced from nature’s renewable resources, including natural fragrance extracts and naturally softened water. This is the type of product I want to use when I’m trying to help in creating a better world for my children to grow up in. I brought the product to my mother in laws house and she informed me that she already uses it! No wonder her clothes smell so good. She says the price is right too, she purchases this product from Walmart and a lower if not the same price as most of the other brands out there.
