Clickfree Backup System

clickfree1Both moms and tech geeks are sure to love this product line. It’s called Clickfree, and automates the nightmare of backing up all your digital content – photos, artwork, music, documents, and much more. Now, with Clickfree, there isn’t any excuse for not backing up your precious content.  The product is so simple to use, you literally just plug in the USB cable or insert the DVD.  That’s it.

Today, 85% of the population does no back up at all (DeLoitte & Touche, 2007). If you’re part of that 85%, and have ever lost all your photos or personal documents when your computer hard drive crashed, you know how heart-breaking that can be. Anyone who has digital “stuff,” such as photos, scrapbooking collages, and web designs, you can’t afford to neglect backing up your data.

Traditionally an extremely tedious and complicated process, backing up your PC is easy as using a toaster when you have Clickfree.  In fact, your microwave is probably more complicated! Clickfree has evolved traditional storage technology applications into a modern-day solution that makes saving digital content as easy as plug and play.  Clickfree devices are designed to automatically start, search, organize and backup your computer’s digital files.

The Clickfree External Hard Drives can automatically back up more than 400 software applications.  All Word files, PowerPoint, email files, attachments within emails, photos, movies, music files.  It even finds preferences, favorite websites and browser lists. A wallet-friendly price tag and record-breaking transfer speeds easily thrust the Clickfree into our list of must have computer gadgets.

The default action is backing up your entire computer hard drive, with the  exception of the obvious things like Windows system folders and cache folders.  The software searches the entire hard drive, all partitions, for file extensions, and will copy them to the Clickfree device.  All original folder structures will be maintained on the Clickfree backup to find your files easily in the future. It also overwrites new versions of files, but leaves anything that you’ve deleted from your local hard drive, which makes it easy to find that long lost client’s work when she asks you for business cards after not returning your phone calls for a year.

Once the backup is complete, a Backup Summary screen will show you how many new files were backed up, the total number of files backed up to-date, the amount of space used in total and the last time you backed up. To simplify the task of finding your data, backed up files are listed by category:  photos, music, email, text docs, spreadsheets, presentations, artwork and drawings, video, favorite websites and others.

The hard drive based units are capable of backing up multiple computers with one device.  Now you can back up your whole home with one Clickfree hard drive backup.  Since no software is installed on the PC being backed up, the Clickfree hard drive will automatically launch on any PC you plug it into.  You can restore your files, view your content, or backup another computer. The best part: it’s both cross version and cross platform compatible – meaning, it works on Windows XP, Vista, and Mac Os X. This also means you can backup data from Windows and restore to a Mac, or vice versa.

Clickfree DVDs are perfect for single use scenarios where data needs to be backed up for archival purposes. The incorporated backup application and DVD burning software make the entire backup process a breeze. The Clickfree Photo DVD automatically searches for and backs up more than 70 different photo formats out of the box, including JPEG, RAW and all popular photo file formats. The Clickfree Music DVD automatically searches for and backs up music files; all popular formats are covered. Ditto with Office and its file formats.

Clickfree products can be found at leading retail outlets across the U.S., including Best Buy, Wal-Mart and Walgreen’s.  They can also be purchased online from Amazon.com or direct from Storage Appliance Corporation (www.goclickfree.com).

Clickfree has provided three DVD 5 packs for a giveaway – a 5 Pack Photo DVD set; a 5 pack Office DVD set and a 5 pack Music DVD Set.  One lucky reader will get all three sets. Backing up or transferring data has never been easier. Insert the DVD into the DVD writer and let Clickfree do the rest. There is no installation or set up required.

  • Clickfree Photo DVD Backup is a hassle-free way to protect cherished memories.
  • Clickfree Music DVD is a hassle-free way to protect music collections.
  • Clickfree Office DVD Backup is a hassle-free way to protect critical office data.

MMM – Audiovox Homebase Giveaway

audiovox-homebaseReaders that are huge fans of the clutterless fridge will be excited to hear about this amazing product. Audiovox Homebase is a digital message board that includes a 7-inch digital picture frame and a built-in camera that family members can use to record messages for each other and set them to be played back at a specific date. There’s also space on the homebase for family members to write on its dry-erase board and post coupons with the included magnets.

Toted to eliminate all pictures and notes from under magnets, this system seems to be the ultimate clutter reducer. It holds about 100 digital pictures and plays them in slide show mode which removes the pile of pictures taking up valuable fridge real estate.

The video recording option features an indicator light that denotes a message is waiting to be watched. Kids will get a kick out of leaving messages to mommy telling her how much they appreciate her super organizing skills. The perfect use for this feature is setting playback for birthdays and anniversaries so a personalized message can be left ahead of time from out of town guests.

The homebase also works as a dry-erase board for quick notes that you don’t want to record. There’s a slot to hold the dry-erase marker, which makes this much superior to any other dry-erase board. There’s also a slot to hold post-it notes.

A suggestion on the packaging is to post coupons with the included magnets, but the magnetic strips around the edges just aren’t powerful enough to hold magnets. Fortunately, refrigerators are magnetic, and that’s the most useful place for a piece of equipment such as this – a high traffic location.

A big downer with this item is installing it. The most useful location is mounted on your fridge but it can only be powered by an electrical cord. Audiovox supplies a wire management system in clear, white, and black to make the cord blend in with your fridge, but what a pain in the butt.

The calendar function is sub-par, not letting a user add notes to a specific date without recording. Adding text into the calendar would make this insanely more useful. Syncing with Google Calendar (or even being able to upload an ical formated file) would make every geek’s heart sing.

Priced around the same as a digital picture frame, this item will potentially be on fridges across America – or built into your fridge like many companies already have done.

Here is the press release video for more information:

Purex Natural Elements – Review and Giveaway

When I do laundry I try to use specific brands due to my husbands allergy to certain ingredients in laundry detergent products. My favorite brand to use is Purex. He has never had an allergic reaction to this brand. Well, Purex has gotten better and “greener”! They recently released their new Natural Elements line.

The Natural Elements line from Purex comes in either Laundry Detergent or Fabric Softener. They come in a variety of fragrances. The laundry detergent comes in: Linen & Lilies, Cherry Blossoms & Vanilla, Apple & Melon and Lilac & White Lavender HE. The fabric softener comes in: Linen & Lilies and Apple and Melon.   The fragrance I tried was the Linen and Lilies, it was clean smelling and not overpowering.

Some more information from the Purex Saves Green Website:

purex-naturalThe plant-based surfactants are sourced from nature’s renewable resources, including natural fragrance extracts and naturally softened water. Both the detergent and liquid fabric softener have biodegradable, concentrated formulas that requires 50 percent less liquid per dose and a recyclable bottle, and it is also hypoallergenic and dye-free.

This is the type of product I want to use when I’m trying to help in creating a better world for my children to grow up in. I brought the product to my mother in laws house and she informed me that she already uses it! No wonder her clothes smell so good. She says the price is right too, she purchases this product from Walmart and a lower if not the same price as most of the other brands out there.

We are giving away Purex Natural Elements Laundry Detergent and Fabric Softener in Linen and Lilacs fragrance to one lucky winner. Here’s how to enter:

  1. Visit Purex Saves Green and create a tote with you own Eco-Friendly Slogan – You could win a car by doing this! Or tell us what your favorite fragrance would be for Purex Natural Elements.
  2. For a second entry, follow us on twitter @mommasreview
