Princess Bride was released 20 years ago, which is crazy to me since I was only five when it came out. The game arrived in the mail last week and before I could even open it my husband got his hands on it. He laughed extremely hard at the opening clip that showcased all of the best moments of the movie. Then, unfortunately, the great quotes and movie clips was overrun by some pretty bad and really loud music. Luckily this music only occurs in the title screen of the game.
Level 1 – As You Wish
One thing I do have to say is that I love the opening clips. They just make you laugh and feel like you are watching the movie – only better.
This level was actually quite challenging on a laptop as it took a lot of back and forth clicking with the touch mouse pad. The DH and I laughed and played and got po-ed at Buttercups constant demands. Who does she think she is? After about 5 different tasks that we had to do, we were finally approved for the next Level.
Level 2 – Battle of the Wits
Vizzini tries to be all hard in this level but the questions aren’t all too bad. Some were a little tricky and we had to guess here and there. As a team, though, we were able to get through the level. I adored the fact that Wallace Shawn who played Vizzini in the movie narrates this whole part.
Level 3 – The Fire Swamp
Good clean fun that requires a lot of jumping and moving around. Again the clip in the beginning was a perfect prelude of what was to come. The one thing that annoyed me about this level was the noise that Buttercup (Robin Wright Penn – You know, Jenny from Forrest Gump) makes every time she jumps. I got annoyed by this noise and turned the sound off.
There were more levels but this is the overall feel for the game.
The Princess Bride PC Game would make a great gift for any Princess Bride movie lover/fan. It gives a die-hard fan alot to enjoy and love. Even on the title screen if you mouse over a level and don’t click silly little quotes will be said by the movies cast. My husband and I enjoyed playing this game – little quirks (like the music and certain sound effects) were irksome but it won’t stop us from playing again.
